Welcome to the
Brooklyn Elementary PTO
Mission Statement: “Making an effort every day, whether big or small, to make sure our students, their families, and our community become stronger and closer through love, support, and education.”
First, we would like to thank
you for taking the time to visit our site. We understand that your time
is valuable and priceless. Second, we would like to
explain to you who we are, what we do, and why we are here. The PTO is made up of parents,
staff, and community members of Brooklyn Elementary. All time and efforts
are 100% volunteer. No person makes money. Anyone can become a member
at any time. We do many things for our school
and community. We support family involvement by organizing and funding
dances, movie nights, science fairs, educational assemblies, and picnics
on the playground. We show staff appreciation by coordinating dinners
on teacher conference nights, and serving breakfast and lunches on Teacher
Appreciation Week. Our dedication to our community is shown by organizing
food drives, participating in Coats for Kids, and supporting
our amazing school program PAWS. Why we are here is quite simple. We want to touch lives and make them better. Our efforts make it possible
to buy things or services that our school’s budget would not allow.
Some of these items consist of surround sounds in all classrooms, smart
boards, new playground equipment, classroom libraries for all level
readers, and many, many, more things. Our decisions on what to give
are not based on any one person's opinions. They are carefully thought
out, put to vote, and then approved. For instance, surround sound in
all classrooms was a no brainer for us. Study after study (click
here for one) has proven that having surround sound installed
in the class room will help with student achievement, comprehension,
attentiveness, and behavioral problems. This is just one example of
how certain decisions are made. No donation or fundraising order is ever too small. We can all make a difference,
one cent or minute at a time. Sincerely, Brooklyn Elementary PTO The PTO is an independent parent organization. No materials on this web site should be understood to have the endorsement or approval of the Oregon School District. |
